About the Artist

Originally born in Greenville, South Carolina, William Grey Thompson has lived in Vermont, Ohio and Alabama. In 2002 Grey moved back to Greenville, completing the circle and sparking the latest and greatest wave of visual art and technique. A raw talent, Grey’s only formal training began on a high school level. Having gained the essentials, the next eight years have been spent embracing uniqueness, exploring ever facet of the craft to produce what you will no doubt consider excellence in the naked, postmodern eye. After a brief stint throughout Europe, observing the visual cannon and absorbing the landscapes and cultural offerings, Grey decided to move away from the sad, darkened, one-way cobblestone street of previous artist and more towards a positive, excited, life affirming run across the canvas. Presently he is addicted to oil pastels and acrylic swirls but is no stranger to water colors, computerized tools, multimedia, and the guitar. Grey jams out to it all and has been heard and purchased from coast to coast. His works come in all sizes, from 8×10 stretched canvas to wall sized murals, the latter of which still hangs in a Mercedes-Benz dealership in California. Grey believes in sharing life, accessibility to the arts, and a constant exchange of both. You can feel this pulse when you hold his work in your hands. Selfless and good-natured, Grey is able to create a complex variety of artwork. Be it gallery work, gift portraits, stage scenes or just a sweet sketch, William Grey Thompson can and will deliver on an immense scale. Do not hesitate to contact him, and if you live in the greater Greenville, South Carolina area, ask around.

He’s breaking through as we speak.
